Alex O’Connor is a dedicated trial advocate with a passion for solving complex problems. Alex is available to assist clients in all aspects of business litigation.
Alex returns to the firm after serving two years as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Timothy M. Reif of the U.S. Court of International Trade. As a law clerk, Alex assisted Judge Reif in resolving disputes arising out of decisions of the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. International Trade Commission, and U.S. Customs & Border Protection. In addition, Alex assisted Judge Reif in presiding over civil and criminal matters in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of New York, the Western District of North Carolina, and the Eastern District of Oklahoma, where Judge Reif sits by designation. In that capacity, Alex gained experience in matters such as patent and copyright disputes, civil rights and employment discrimination claims, and more.
Alex joined the firm during law school as a summer associate in the summer of 2022 before working as a semester law clerk during the 2022-2023 academic year. Also during law school, Alex served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Susan Richard Nelson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. He also completed an internship with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Michigan.
Prior to entering law school, Alex served as a Peace Corps volunteer in rural Ethiopia and worked in youth development with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth.
