Anthony Ostlund is pleased to announce that two of its attorneys, Cory Olson and Vince Louwagie, recently obtained a unanimous jury verdict in favor of a client. The lawsuit was brought by customers of Berthel Fisher & Company Financial Services, a broker-dealer and FINRA member firm based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The plaintiffs accused the firm of failing to perform proper due diligence on products the plaintiffs invested in through a registered representative affiliated with Berthel Fisher. The plaintiffs further alleged that the registered representative had misled them about the investments and Berthel Fisher’s due-diligence processes.
After a two-week trial, a unanimous jury rejected the claims, rendering a verdict in favor of Berthel Fisher on all counts. In addition to the unanimous verdict, Anthony Ostlund also obtained several pre-trial rulings that limited the scope of the claims and the damages that the plaintiffs were allowed to seek.
